GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. (June 27, 2024) – Following the temporary closure of Reserve Wine & Food, the highly anticipated new concept for the beloved downtown restaurant has been unveiled. “Allora,” a comfortable, fresh coastal Italian dining experience, will open its doors by the end of 2024. With a strong commitment to sustainability, an artful approach to cuisine, and a menu that evolves to showcase fresh, seasonal ingredients, Allora promises to bring a unique and inspiring dining experience to Grand Rapids.
“We are excited to introduce Grand Rapids to “Allora” and the fresh flavors of coastal Italian cuisine this year,” said Luke VerHulst, general manager. “Like our namesake, we aim to help conversations and stories flow while telling our own through a menu of sustainable, artfully prepared dishes inspired by Coastal Italy.”
The restaurant’s name, “Allora” is also indispensable in Italian socializing and storytelling. Though there is no direct English translation, English speakers might use the words “well…” or “so…” or “and then…” in a similar way. The word “allora” creates space in a conversation, lends suspense and flow to a story, and sings the rolling song of the world’s most beautifully spoken language.
“Our goal is to offer an unforgettable experience for every guest in an intimate, comfortable setting,” said founder Betsy DeVos. “At Allora, every delicious bite with family and friends will be a story.”
The restaurant will blend its commitment to quality and hospitality with support for the growth of Grand Rapids as a culinary destination. The dynamic menu will showcase fresh, seasonal ingredients and provide the kind of taste experience that makes coastal Italian cuisine famous, thereby contributing to the city’s culinary reputation.
